"I trust Personal Space Theatrics implicitly with my words and my work."
-- Arthur Kopit
Dear PST Supporters,
Well, spring has come and gone, the seeds of the new theatre season have been sown, and PST is ready to plunge into the next phase of production. With the garden already tilled, now is the time for the hot, backbreaking work of weeding and irrigation. This is the stage in a young play’s life when flat, abstract sketches begin to burst off the page. Penciled costume ideas become ripe with fabric swatches of all colors and textures, and blueprints of sets grow into full-fledged, 3-D dioramas. Auditions are scheduled, props are fashioned, and all around town fans are licking their lips in anticipation of a juicy fall harvest.
And what a crop we’ve got comin’! This September, we bring you the New York premiere of Safari Party by Tim Firth (Calendar Girls, Kinky Boots). You have seen PST break down the fourth wall before, but this time you will be invited to see, hear, feel, smell, and, yes, taste the show. This September, bring your appetite as PST presents an evening of food, lies, blood, racists, suicide, shotguns, sheep shears and table golf. Do your best to keep up with the cornucopia of lies served in this bizarre twist on a classic British Farce.
Your past contributions have sustained us through this point. Now we ask you to roll up your sleeves, wipe your brow (preferably on a checkered hankie), and kneel down in the earth. Or, we suppose you could stay inside with the AC, write a check, and leave the dirty work to us. Your cherished contributions will go directly to our production of Safari Party. It is an autumn feast you won’t want to miss.
Dig deep into those pockets, and we promise we won’t let you down. And from all of the crew at PST—enjoy the blessings of summer.
Yours,
Nicholas A. Cotz
